Feria Dancer

Here's an idea to make a Feria Dancer using a paper plate and tissue paper

This is a longer project as it involves painting. It could be simplified using A4 card instead of using a paper plate and paint.

Materials
-Paper plate
-Paint/brushes/newspaper
*Or just use coloured A4 card
-Coloured tissue paper
-Small piece of white paper (for face)
-String (optional)
-Basic Materials: pencil, scissors, 'prittstick' glue, tape, coloured pens/board markers
-Stencil:

Stage 1
-Draw image onto paper plate from the stencil provided
(If a few students are making them, cut out the first plate, then use that as the stencil for the others)
-Cut out
Stage 2
-Paint (on the side that is the normal top of the plate)
-Allow to dry
*If no time for painting/allowing to dry, use coloured card instead of painting a paper plate
Stage 3
Once painted plate is dry...
-Cut 1 strip and 1 small square from the coloured tissue paper
-Glue the back of the plate at the bottom
-Loosely pleat the tissue strip
-Stick to back of the plate
-Tape on
Stage 4
-Cut a circle of white paper for the face
-Stick on to paper plate
-Add detail- face, hair, edging and spots on dress
-Make a flower shape from small square of tissue paper
-Put glue next to hair on model. Stick on as a flower in hair
-Tape string to the back of design ...and hang up!
