Fireworks

Heres an idea for a firework picture or display

This is a project based on a classic idea but with a modern twist
Instead of using wax crayons with black paint, use a plastic CD cover or plastic A4 sheet
-I've tried the tradional way before but if the colours aren't coloured in thickly with the crayon it doesn't work very well ...This way is easier and will make a great display
See below for classroom ideas
Materials:
-Plastic CD cover or plastic A4 sheet
-Card to fit -A4 sheet or smaller for CD cover (12cmx12cm)
-Black acrylic/poster paint (and brush, container and something to paint on)
-Pencil and pencil sharpener
-Glue
-Scissors
-Decoration -Paint or Coloured pens or Coloured card, wrapping paper, foil, etc

Stage 1
-Paint the front of the CD cover/A4 sheet with black paint
-Allow to dry
Stage 2
-While the cover is drying, colour the card. You can paint, use coloured pens or just add different coloured materials. Foil looks great, too
Any design with light and bright colours is perfect ...Or you could use a colourful page from a magazine to save time
Stage 3
-Once the black paint is dry, scratch on the firework design
(You could use a coin, but a sharpened pencil works best for a finer line)
Stage 4
-Insert the card into the plastic cover/sheet ...and display!
*For the Classroom
-Use the time whilst the black paint is drying to draw a random design, write numbers on the shapes and do a colour dictation. Eg. 'Colour number 3 red', etc
-Or if short of time, pre-paint CD covers black and focus on colour dictation and the firework design on the dried, painted cover in class
-A display using several CD covers will look really effective
Have a Great Bonfire Night!
