Picture Frame

Here's an idea using recycled CDs or DVDs to make a decorative picture frame

You can use recycled and accessible materials in the classroom to make this project
Or buy a cheap frame and personalise it for a gift
Materials
-Thick card (from a box or sturdy folder)
-Old CDs or DVDs
-A4 plastic sheet/laminating plastic
-PVA glue
-Paint (any colour)
-Paint brush and container for paint
Basic Materials- scissors, tape, pencil, ruler
Alternatively, you could use a cheap frame (with a flat frame) and decorate to make a personal gift

Stage 1
-Cut a square/rectangle from thick card
-Measure the part you want to display your picture and cut out
(You could use a craft knife for this or it is easier just to cut into part of the frame with scissors to cut out the inside and then cover with the decoration)
Stage 2
-Paint the front of the card frame
-Allow to dry
Stage 3
-Cut the CD/DVD into fragments with scissors
(They are quite flexible but would be too difficult for young children to cut so you could pre-prepare ...or use metallic cardboard plates/trays for a safer option)
Stage 4
-Put a thick layer of PVA glue onto part (about a quarter) of the frame
-Place on the CD fragments
-Repeat the process until all frame decorated
(You could add coloured wrapping paper/coloured card too, to fill in any gaps, add more colour ...and less CD fragments to cut up)

Stage 5
-Cut a square of A4 plastic sheet/laminating sheet ( slightly larger than the inside hole)
-Tape to the back of frame

Attach a photo or picture to the back of the frame. And that's it.
