Autumn Leaf Craft

Here's an idea to celebrate Autumn using leaf images
You could use real leaves or card leaf stencils to create the design. Use paint or stick cut-outs onto crepe paper/see-through plastic for a window display

Leaf Window Display
Put in the window to let the light shine through the leaf images
 Materials
-Cardboard tray (or you could make a frame cut from A4 card)
-Paint, brushes, paint container, etc (or you could colour in using crayons)
-See-through plastic/Tissue paper
-Leaf Stencils
-Materials to make leaves -coloured card/paper, wrapping paper, etc
-Basic Materials -Glue, Scissors, Pencils

Stage 1
-Pierce the inside of the tray and cut/Use stanley knife (to simplify, cut the edge of tray to cut out the inside, then tape back together)
-Paint the underside of the tray
Stage 2
-Cut out leaf stencils -They can be coloured-in or have designs on whilst the paint is drying
Stage 3
-Glue the plastic/tissue paper on the inside of tray
 Stage 4
-Glue the leaf motifs on the front of the tray/plastic
-Place in the window for the light to shine through!
Leaf  People
A lovely idea using natural materials
Materials
-Toilet Roll
-Nature Stuff -leaves, berries, twigs, etc (Great for vocabulary)
-Paint or colours for the roll
-Circular stickers (or can draw around a coin on white paper and stick on)
-Tape

Stage 1
-Pre-pierce the roll (holes for arms ...and button holes if desired)
-Paint or colour in the rolls

Stage 2
-Insert the twigs for the arms and berries (insert the stems into the rolls for the buttons)
-Tape on the leaf 'head' and add the eyes with the stickers
Arty Leaf Prints

Materials
-Card
-Leaf
-Paint, brush, etc
-Glue
-Paper/pens/colours for message
Make an arty picture and frame the leaf image
-I used only 1 leaf (but the real leaf  'died' after a couple of days and peeled off ...so you may need to put in a clip-frame)
-Paint the leaf and print on a piece of card (you can use the outline of the leaf for a stencil, too)

 Or make an Autumn Card
Tree Display
Make a display with the leaves made by students/children. They can cut out big leaf images  or draw around their own hands as stencils
Use the leaf images to ...
-Write names on
-Write on personal information: 'I'm Carmen. I live in Seville. I like ...' , etc
-Make a smaller version for a Family Tree. Students could bring photos or draw family members for family vocabulary

Also, check out Autumn lantern and garland
on this site.

Have a great Autumn!
