Spring Daffodil

Here's a Daffodil to make for Spring.
This is easy to make and looks great. It can be simplified by cutting out the painting part and using a straw for the stem for younger children.

Materials
-Yellow paper/thin card/wrapping paper
...or a yellow kitchen cloth
(I used this for the models in the photos)
-Cardboard egg carton
-Tissue paper (in an orange or yellow colour)
-Yellow paint and paintbrush (optional)
-Wooden skewer and green pen/board marker
...or a green straw
-Green paper/card for the leaves
-Basic materials: pencil, scissors, 'prittstick' glue, tape
 Stage 1
-Cut a section out of the egg carton
-Trim the edges
-Paint yellow, colour with felt-tip pen or leave a natural colour
-Leave to dry
Stage 2
-Draw a flower shape with 6 petals from the yellow card or cloth (around 16cm). This can doesn't have to be exactly perfect so can be done freehand. Or use a stencil if a class of students/children making them
-Cut out
Stage 3
-When egg carton is dry, glue the underside and over the sides with 'prittstick' glue and attach to the flower shape
-Glue the petals up the side and then flatten them back
Stage 4
-Make the stem by colouring in a wooden skewer with a green felt-tip. Board markers are ideal.
-Pierce the egg carton with the sharp end of the skewer (or make a hole with a pencil first) and insert it through one side of the egg carton until it touches the other side
*For younger children, you could use a green straw to be safer
-If you are using a straw, make a hole in the underside of the egg carton with a pencil, bend the straw and insert with the shorter end
-Scrunch up orange tissue paper, put some glue inside the egg carton and arrange the tissue around the skewer/straw for the inside of the flower
Stage 5
-Cut strips of green paper/card/wrapping paper in a very thin triangle shape
-Wrap around the 'stem' and tape on
You can make an individual flower or make a bouquet or flower display.
