Easter Eggs

Here's a great idea for 3-D Easter Eggs.

This is a great idea that can be hung up or a few placed together in a bowl.
You could use metallic embroidery thread/string and can also feature small edible eggs wrapped in shiny paper, wrapped sweets or decorative marbles inside the egg.

*I would make a few of these at a time. These can be a bit messy to make when wrapping and take a while to dry so I wouldn't suggest this for a lesson or short craft class. Look good though!

Materials
-Balloons
-White/PVA glue
-String, embroidery thread, etc
-Disposable plate to put glue in
-Newspaper to work on
-Wrapped chocolate eggs, sweets, marbles (optional)

Stage 1
-Blow up balloons so they are blown up about a third. If making more than 1, you could vary the sizes. (At this point, you could insert the chocolate eggs inside the balloon ...I prefer to put them inside the egg by pushing through the biggest gap in the string once dry).
-Cut string into sections (between 12-24 inches)
-Lay down newspaper to work on and put glue mixed with a little water on a plate (about 3/4 glue, 1/4 water)
-Have kitchen roll or something to wipe your hands on, just in case
Stage 2
-Put a piece of string into the glue mixture, make sure all covered in glue and then run through fingers to remove excess glue mixture
-Wrap around balloon
-Repeat with other pieces of string in horizontal, vertical and diagonal directions

Stage 3
-Hang upside-down on a piece of string. This should be left at least 24 hours..1-2 days is best

Stage 4
-Once dry, pop the balloon. It should deflate slowly
-Gently remove the ballon from the string and take out the balloon. The string may 'deflate' a bit too but you can push it out again
Stage 5
-At this stage you could insert wrapped chocolate eggs or decorative marbles inside the egg (by pushing them through the largest space between the string)
Stage 6
-Display in a bowl or attach string and hang up!

 Happy Easter!
