Carnival mask

Here's an idea to
celebrate
Carnival time.
A mask that's easy to make and looks rather fabulous!
 Materials
-Rectangular paper tray (for cakes, etc). Metallic ones look effective.
-String/Elastic
-Coloured tissue paper or decorative paper
-See-through plastic (optional)
-Circular stickers or can make and stick from normal paper
-1 piece of card to make stencil from
-Basic materials -pencils, marker pen (permanent), colours, scissors, glue, tape

Stage 1
-Fold a piece of card in half then draw out you stencil design (Make sure the cut-out eye parts aren't too far apart if for small children).
-Open out and draw design on one end of the paper tray.
-Cut out.
-For large numbers of students/children, use the paper tray cut-out as a stencil for the other trays.

Stage 2
-Cut out eye holes (You could cut from the side to the centre then tape back up the cut to make it easier. Alternatively, pierce a hole where the eye hole is ...but harder to cut out)
-If desired, glue the back of the mask around the eye area and stick 2 pieces of coloured see-through plastic.

Stage 3
-Cut strips of decorative paper or coloured tissue paper.
-Glue the back of the mask at the top left and right hand edges.
-Add coloured-in circular stickers (or any extra decoration)
-Define edges with a marker pen
-Add string or elastic with tape to the sides of the mask
 (An alternative is to use a wooden kebab stick, coloured in marker pen, to hold up to face rather than being tied around head. Cut of the pointy sharp end if using with young children).

*You could always make flags to go with the masks...

Use wooden kebab sticks coloured with pen, stick on flag design and decorate with the strips of decorative paper used to decorate the mask.
