Reindeer Christmas Card

Here's a Reindeer Christmas Card using your hand as a template.

This is a fun activity for a Christmas Card. There are other easier versions of this activity at the end of the instructions.

Materials
-Basic materials: pencils, scissors, prittstick glue, black marker pens
-Brown paint, paintbrushes, newspaper/plastic plate for painting
-A4 card (festive colours eg. red/green or keep it simple with brown)
-Red marker pen (white board pen is ideal)
-Circle template (for nose)
-White circular stickers/paper to stick on for eyes (optional)

Stage 1
Fold A4 card in half. Students draw around their hand on the front of the card (the wrist in the bottom right part and their fingers slightly over the edge of the top left part). You may need to place their hands in position so the template works

Stage 2
Students open out card and cut around the hand outline and along the middle fold (avoiding where their fingers overlap the fold and also the bottom left corner)

Stage 3
Paint the front of the card with brown paint..leave to dry. Alternatively, use brown card to cut out the painting part

Stage 4
Use white circular stickers to add eyes or cut out circles from normal white stickers/white paper and attach

Stage 5
Students draw around small circular template, colour red and attach for nose (this could be from a circular sticker/white sticker/the excess card from cutting out earlier)

Stage 6
Students draw around eyes, nose, outline and add mouth in black marker pen (do this with the card open and on top of scrap paper/newspaper)

Stage 7
Add shiny paper/wrapping paper rectangles on inside of card. Write Christmas message with black marker or (if using shiny paper) on a white sticker

Other Alternatives: To make this activity simple use brown card. To make it really simple, get students to draw around their hand on A5 piece of paper (cutting optional) and just stick on the front of the card or just draw on the card itself, then draw on face and add red nose -no painting or cutting necessary. Alternatively, students could print their hand on the card using brown paint ..but this may be a bit messy!
