Rose Stem

Here's a rose stem ideal for Birthdays, Mother's Day, Valentine's Day and craft flower displays.
This idea uses part of an egg carton (painted), red material and tissue paper. To simplify, you could only use red tissue/wrapping paper in the centre part and colour in the egg carton with a red board marker pen.
Materials
-Egg carton (for 6 roses)
-Red paint/paintbrush/paint container (or red marker pen)
-Red tissue paper/wrapping paper (optional red material)
-Wooden skewer
-Green marker pen (board pens are ideal)
-Green card/paper for leaves (optional)
-Basic materials: scissors, glue ('prittstick'), pencil, tape
Stage 1
-Roughly cut or tear an egg-sized section from the egg carton
-Paint the inside red. Paint the outside, making sure the edge is painted too
-Allow to dry
Stage 2
-Fold some red tissue paper into pleated layers. Then loosely roll it up to fit the egg carton
(The same applies if you are using red material but you also add some tissue paper in the inside of the roll)
-Glue the inside of the egg carton
-Place tissue paper (and/or material) inside

Stage 3
-Colour the wooden skewer with the green pen
-Pierce the side of the egg carton with the skewer
-Insert the skewer into the carton
(If using material for the inside of the flower, this should be done first)
Stage 4 (Optional
-Cut leaves around a circle the same size as the egg carton
-Cut out and glue to the back of the carton. (You could cut little triangles out along the sides)
-Cut thin strips of green card. Cut one end pointed
-Wrap around the stem and tape on
You can use this flower individually, in a bouquet or as part of a flower display.
